London Mountain Film Festival (LMFF) Showreel one (12A)

The Ritz Cinema is proud to once again host the LMFF - though the main thread of the festival is bold exploits and derring-do there is much more besides with contemplative works and the stunningly filmed beauty of the outdoors so please don't think 'this isn't for me' - if you are a climber, a biker, a skier or a boarder you will certainly not be disappointed, but,  if you are none of these you can still enjoy the grandeur of the natural habitat and the touching human tales told.

This first collection features adventure in many forms. From high wire - and we really do mean hire wire as it stretches between mountain peaks, via incredible young athletes who will induce vertigo and palm sweat as they climb impressive peaks then ski or speedride back down, to the impressive boundary pushing world of adaptive mountain biking. All will blow you away. Countering this adrenaline fuelled  material is a beautiful, thoughtful and picturesque film about the Icelandic 'Réttir'  - the annual sheep round up seen through the eyes of the families involved. On the cycle front a great feature covering the iconic self-supported ultra-cycling event along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way shows not only the beauty of the scenery and the competitor's ardour but also the wonderful Irish people and the feature is likely to have you getting your maps out.

It's armchair adventure most definitely - though you might be on the edge of your seat at times

About the LMFF - LMFF is here to support adventure filmmakers and communities with a passion for the outdoors, we do this by collecting new films from around the world and distributing them online in such a way that communities are empowered to host their own mini-festivals or film nights in venues that are local to them. It is expected that the London Mountain Festival's Community Events will grow in popularity in the years to come and become an annual treat for adventure enthusiasts around the world.
